Paper Rabbits by Makoto Koji Launches Animated Short Online - Peppercorn Babycorn Unicorn
Peppercorn Babycorn Unicorn tells a story about a young girl spending the weekend with her imposing Grandmother. While left unattended the girl hijacks her Grandmother’s cauldron and attempts to make a Unicorn. The animation was produced solely by Makoto Koji in Adelaide over 13 months and was supported by The Media Resource Centre’s Frame x Frame initiative. The score was created by South Australian Composer Christopher Larkin.
Peppercorn Babycorn Unicorn is animated traditionally in Photoshop and inspired by a mix of European folk tales and classic Japanese animation. The story pays tribute to Roald Dahl’s George’s Marvellous Medicine & Kiki’s Delivery Service by Studio Ghibli.
The film won Best Animation and Best Sound Design at the South Australian Screen Awards earlier this year.
